This included documents, certificates, background check reports, and logos. Browsers showed a security warning instead of the file. The cause was an expired security (SSL) certificate on files.sublynk.com, the domain that serves stored files. The certificate is managed by our hosting provider and should have renewed automatically, but it did not. We issued a new certificate manually, and file access was restored at 8:36 AM ET. The Sublynk app stayed available throughout. No files were lost or changed, and file access was never exposed to anyone who shouldn't have it. To catch this sooner, we've added monitoring that warns us 14 days before any of our certificates expire. We're also working with our hosting provider to find out why the automatic renewal failed.
